Peer Pressure:
The effects of peer pressure, why is it so powerful? Possibilities are numerous; friends is the biggest one, insecurity, or ignorance are 2 more. Troubled teens is an issue, and needs to be addressed cautiously. Lets look at these more closely for why teen help is so important today:
Friends: You have no friends, lack closeness, or have no bonding at home. You desperately want to fit in, and you will do anything to have that closeness, that bonding. You will smoke, do drugs, drink and even steal, because they tell you it's cool and you just want that bond.
Teen peer pressure, I been there, I know what you're feeling, I know where you are coming from. I have said things like, "He's my bro man, he's got my back", well I tell you the truth. When it comes down to doing time, or your health, that bro is no where to be found. He's not going to do your time for you, or change bodies with you.
Insecurity: Nobody is better than anybody else. Some may know more about a certain topic, or they may have more money, or they may have more of this or that, but that don't make them better.
You can be and do anything you want, you may have to work harder, but anything's possible. That's what my Dad always told me, and I love him for that. I use to be shy, till a friend told me just to say Hi. I said hi to every person I worked with, on a daily basis, and yes, they all said hi back. YOU CAN DO IT TOO, YOU CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT!
Ignorance: Have you ever been to court, no, not yet, that's good "The judge says, ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law". Have you watched someone die of cancer or watch a drug addict go through withdraws. They are not pretty, and very painful.
Advice; If you have any questions, talk to your family, a counselor, a doctor, a homeless person, or even visit a child in the hospital childrens ward that may not see their next birthday. Learn, communicate with those that truly love you and be whatever YOU want to be, not what the so called friends want you to be. If they are true friends, they will understand and support your decisions.
5 Steps To Avoid Peer Pressure: 1) Talk to your parents, or a counselor. 2) Join a sport or academic at your school. 3) Think, your common sense is very powerful. 4) Make new friends. 5) Just Say NO To Peer Pressure:
